The third book in my YA Science Fantasy series, The Lakeside Adventures, now has a cover!
This cover was a much more arduous chore to get done. I used the same artist as my second cover, but there were considerable complications, starting with a cancelation of my order and resubmission. From there, it was as if the artist didn't even read what I sent to her about the book, and the design was sloppy, like having one word in the title be in a different font, for example, or including the same word from the title twice on the back cover. Revisions were not timely, and communication was scarce. Over all, I was very dissatisfied with the process, and am uncertain if I am going to use her for the fourth and final book in the series. I just hate having to find a new designer, so who knows whether my laziness or my frustration will carry the day.
This third book is again very relationship heavy, but the stakes of the book have risen considerably from the first two books, not merely threatening the lives of students at the Academy or wizards in Seattle, but threatening the survival of the entire species, wizard and mundane alike. In addition to more friendship, romance, betrayal, fun new magics, computer wizardry, and the multiple points of view, this book will give a glimpse of what life is like at the other Academies across the country.
